CBGG Holds Academic Seminar on Financial Opening-Up and RMB Internationalization in Shenzhen

On December 16, 2021, the Academic Seminar on Financial Opening-Up and RMB Internationalization and the Seminar on Financial Development Policies for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were jointly held by the Center for BRICS and Global Governance (CBGG) and the World Finance Forum (WFF)  in Shenzhen. Themed on “the roadmap of financial opening-up and RMB internationalization and challenges and opportunities for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, the seminar welcomed guests from local governments, industries and the academic community. Feng Xingke,  Director of CBGG and Secretary-General of WFF, presided over the event.

Xiao Zhijia, member of the CPC Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director-General of the Local Financial Regulatory Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, entrusted by Ai Xuefeng, Deputy Secretary of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, delivered important speeches on the occasion. On behalf of Shenzhen Municipality and Local Financial Regulatory Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Xiao welcomed and congratulated on the convening of the seminar in Shenzhen, and introduced financial opening-up progress that Shenzhen has achieved over years. Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the WFF and CBGG continue with their efforts to support the financial development of Shenzhen.

Han Yongwen, Senior Advisor for CBGG and the WFF and Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchange (CCIEE), Xiao Geng, Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) and President of the Hong Kong Institution for International Finance (HKIIF), Wang Yongli, Academic Member of CBGG and the WFF and Former Vice President of the Bank of China (BOC), Zhang Bohui, Executive Associate Dean of the School of Management and Economics, CUHK-Shenzhen and Associate Director of the Shenzhen Finance Institute (SFI), as well as Huang Jianbin, Vice President of LexinFintech Holdings Ltd., gave speeches centered on the theme of the seminar.

On June 6, 2020, the WFF and CBGG jointly held the Academic Seminar on China’s Financial Supply-Side Structural Reform Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic and the Symposium on Financial Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port in New Circumstances. On this occasion, Liu Mingkang, Zhu Guangyao, Wang Zhongmin, Li Lihui, Sun Tianqi, Li Wenhong and other guests engaged in extensive discussions surrounding the topics of the seminar, including the current economic and financial situations at home and aboard, the supply-side structural reform of China’s financial sector, as well as policy research and judgment on Hong Kong’s status as an international financial center, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port.
