On June 30, 2018, the first World Finance Forum, co-sponsored by the Center for BRICS and Global Governance (CBGG) and the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee (RBWC) was held in Beijing. Zhou Yanli, former vice chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, was invited to the forum and made a keynote speech.

Zhou Yanli said that cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework also faces many risks, including risks in finance, trade, and risks related to natural disasters and human risks. The “Belt and Road” cooperation must consider all aspects of risks. Therefore, he hopes that countries along the “Belt and Road” can use insurance as a tool to solve various risks, not only direct insurance, but also reinsurance. Reinsurance is actually a very important tool that enables us to use the global insurance system to share risks.
